Skirt 1

This being the first skirt that ive ever made i was keen to see how well i could do it at a first attempt. As a garment it worked well in terms of being very casual, as the material was denim i found it hard to be creative with the deign. So i stuck to the basic skirt block, and added some detailing around the middle front.

Iused a zip as the opening, this was tricky as i didnt have the right foot on my sewing machine for it. so my invisible zip was not quite invisible. which made the over look of the back of the skirt unappealing. Next time i will use appropriate foots for the appropriate zips.

The fabric was Denim, i found it really easy to sew. didnt have any problems with unpicking or justifying any mistakes as you couldnt tell with the kind of thickness of this denim. I was given 2 meters but only used 1 and 1/4 meters. The cost of this fabric was £4.90 a metre and it was from Sherpherds Bush, A1 fabric store.
